In this guide, we will explain how to replace the Secondary Board (S-Board) for the M3D PRO. You will need a 2.0mm hex screwdriver for the disassembly and you’ll want to be in an anti-static environment. Some electronics will be exposed during the disassembly and there is a chance you could damage them. We recommend not working on a carpeted area and to discharge before working. You can do this by touching something metal (Not the printer) for at least one second. Wearing an antistatic wrist-wrap would be good. 1. Remove the print bed as shown in the picture below:
2. Remove the four 2mm hex drive screws that hold the top of the base (fluff).
3. Pull the top of the base (fluff) up.
4. This is how the top of the base (fluff) should be raised.
5.Mount the S board you received on the Left side of the printer on the sheet with the M3D logo facing you as shown in the picture below:
6.The S-Board has three encoders attached. Be very careful with the wiring as they may break easily. The If you look close to the encoders, they will be numbered as E1.2.2, E2.2.2, and E3.2.2.
7.The encoder E1.2.2. will sit on the nearest encoder holder, next to the front left threaded rod (with the M3D logo facing you) as shown in the picture below. Make sure when you place the encoder, the encoder disc is placed between the two tabs of the encoder.
8.The next step is to cover the wires over the two tabs of the sheet metal and use a piece of electrical tape to secure the wire on to those two tabs as shown in the picture below:
9.The next step is to place the encoder E2.2.2 onto the second encoder holder that is right next to the front left threaded rod (M3D logo facing you) as shown in the picture below:
10.Next step is to the place the third encoder E3.2.2, which sits on the encoder holder that is next to the back right threaded (with the M3D logo facing you) as shown in the picture below:
11.Finally, put the M to S board cable, the flat cable and the LED cable as shown in the pictures below. Make sure when you insert the flat cable, the white part is towards the bottom.
